Tamil cinema is all set to witness a high-voltage box-office battle this Diwali, as Suriya 47 and Dhanush’s OM: Chapter 1 – Udhiram are expected to release during the festive season. Both projects are among the most awaited films in Kollywood and carry good expectations from fans and trade circles alike.
There is a lot of discussion about which film will be the Diwali winner. Well, on paper, Suriya appears to have a slight advantage. The star has bounced back strongly with the success of Karuppu and Vishwanath & Sons, and all eyes are now on Suriya47.
Meanwhile, Dhanush is coming off a difficult phase as his last two films, Idli Kottu and Kara, failed to create the desired impact at the box office. However, trade experts believe that one should not underestimate Dhanush and his films, as they can surprise one and all.
OM is directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, who earned critical acclaim with Sivakarthikeyan’s Amaran. On the other hand, Suriya 47 is being helmed by Aavesham fame Jithu Madhavan and features Nazriya Nazim as the female lead.
With two major stars, strong directors, and festive holiday support, trade circles are expecting huge numbers. Though Suriya has a slight advantage, the big question now is simple: which film will emerge as the Diwali winner?
