Suriya’s Vishwanath & Sons is showing excellent box-office growth after receiving positive audience feedback. Interestingly, on opening day, the Telugu version reportedly performed better than the Tamil version. This surprised the trade and sparked discussions on social media.

Many stated why Tamil audiences were not immediately supporting a film that was made by a non-Tamil director and featuring one of their biggest stars. However, things have changed quickly. Following strong word of mouth, the Tamil version has picked up momentum and is now performing better than the Telugu version in several centers.

Suriya enjoys immense popularity in Tamil Nadu, and the film’s family-oriented story is gradually attracting the Tamil family audiences to theaters. The positive response from viewers is helping the movie register strong occupancy, especially during the weekend even in B and C centers of Tamil Nadu.

Another important factor is that Vishwanath & Sons was originally made in Tamil and later dubbed into Telugu. As awareness about the film grows, more Tamil moviegoers are turning up to watch it on the big screen.

As of now, the film has grossed just over Rs 75 crore and is expected to touch the Rs 100 crore mark this weekend. If the current trend continues, the movie has a strong chance of entering the profit zone and emerging as a smash hit for Suriya, and Tamil numbers would be a major contributor.
