The teaser of Prem Keetanu, the official Hindi remake of the Malayalam blockbuster Premalu, has finally arrived. Directed by Apoorv Singh Karki, the film stars Veer Pahariya, Aparshakti Khurana, Rakesh Bedi, Nikhil Vijay, and debutante Aafiya Sayed.
Reports about the remake sparked debate months ago, and the teaser has only intensified those discussions. A major section of movie lovers feels that the teaser lacks the freshness and feel-good charm that made Premalu such a huge success.
Many have pointed out that the original’s innocence appears to be missing in the promo. Veer Pahariya, who plays the main lead, has also come under trolls, with several fans saying that he does not capture the lovable charm that Naslen brought to the lead character.
On the other hand, Aparshakti Khurana’s presence has received a more positive response from viewers. Another talking point is that the makers seem to have given the remake a fresh Hindi flavor and a new treatment.
Yet another aspect is that the makers have decided to release the film on October 2, which also marks the release date of Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam 3. Seeing all this, many say that Bollywood has spoilt yet another cult hit from the South.
