Yash became a major star in the Telugu states with the success of the KGF films. Now, all eyes are on his next film, Toxic, which is set to hit theatres on August 26.
A report, which came out yesterday, has now created a new discussion in Andhra Pradesh. According to reports, the Toxic team is planning to seek a ticket price hike in AP. The reported plan includes Rs 500 flat tickets for 6 AM special shows, along with a Rs 50 to Rs 100 hike for regular shows, even this seems to be high for a dubbed film with decent buzz. However, there is no official confirmation yet. This instantly raised a question among movie lovers – is this a genuine plan or a PR stunt?
Some believe that the film’s buzz in the Telugu states is only decent at the moment. According to this view, such reports could be a planned PR strategy to create instant buzz around the film before its release.
On the other hand, some feel that if the hike is actually implemented, it could work against the film. They argue that audiences may not be ready to pay such high prices for a dubbed film, especially when the regular ticket prices are already sufficient.
There is also another point being discussed. Toxic has received an A certificate from the Censor Board for its violence and mature themes and is meant for adult audiences. Some sections feel the government should be cautious about allowing very high ticket prices for a film with adult-oriented and violent content. For now, the reported hike remains unconfirmed. More clarity is expected from the Toxic team and the Andhra Pradesh government in the coming days.
