Local or non-local? This question has become quite a matter of late in Tollywood. There is a constant debate on whether non-local should be cast in the roles where Telugu and local actors fit in. This practice became so evident that filmmakers are choosing non locals even for some side roles. Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja’s Irumudi is in the news for this.
Before the film’s release many wondered why Baby Nakshatra was chosen for Ravi Teja’s daughter Manemma aka Mani Kanta role at a time a local girl could have been chosen. But after the release all such talk and arguments vanished.
Nakshatra totally nailed in her character in the movie. Be it emotions or expressions during critical scenes, Nakshatra proved she is the best suit for the character. Director Shiva Nirvana beforehand saw the potential in Nakshatra and picked her.
If we see Majili, Shiva picked a North girl that too suiting her North mother connection. Shiva is known for picking artists that breathe life into the characters. It’s once again proved with Irumudi.
