Yash’s Toxic is getting bigger with every promotional statement. Producer-cum-distributor Dil Raju, who is associated with the Toxic’s Telugu release, spoke highly about the movie at at he film’s pre-release event in Hyderabad and shared his prediction that Toxic should get a strong start from Hyderabad, similar to what happened with Animal.
The bigger talking point, however, is Dil Raju’s Rs 2000 crore target being discussed around Toxic. Raju said music composer Vishal Chandrasekhar has predicted that Toxic revenue would cross a humongous Rs 2000 crore revenue.
Raju hoped that Vishal’s words would become true. But the point to be noted is that such a huge number naturally raises expectations and also puts pressure on the film to deliver a massive opening.
For a 2000 crore target, Toxic needs a very strong first day and a big opening across all major markets. The film has the scale, Yash’s popularity and strong visuals, but the content will be the biggest factor.
At the same time, Toxic reportedly has a significant amount of adult and mature content. This could make it difficult for family audiences to come to theatres in large numbers.
So, the film will need unanimous positive talk from adult audiences. If the content connects strongly with the target audience, the mature theme may not become a major problem.
With every big statement, the expectations on Toxic are getting higher. Now, the real challenge is whether the film can convert these huge expectations into equally huge box-office numbers.
