The trailer of Haiwaan is finally out, and it shows a completely different side of Akshay Kumar. Directed by Priyadarshan, the thriller features Saif Ali Khan as a visually impaired man, while Akshay Kumar plays a ruthless serial killer.

One of the trailer’s biggest highlights is Akshay Kumar’s transformation. After an out-and-out comedy, Welcome to the Jungle, the star has taken a sharp turn with a dark and negative character. His intense screen presence and body language make him look menacing.

One also gets a feeling that the makers could have showcased his villainous side even more aggressively. Haiwaan is based on Priyadarshan’s own acclaimed Malayalam thriller Oppam, which starred Mohanlal in the lead role.

However, Priyadarshan says Haiwaan is not a scene-by-scene remake, but several changes have been made to suit the Hindi audience. The trailer effectively establishes the cat-and-mouse game between Saif’s blind character and Akshay’s dangerous negative role.
