Censor Board Roadblocks: Producers Suffering In Silence!

The Telugu Film Industry is facing increasing challenges during the censor certification process. Filmmakers who put in months of hard work and invest huge amounts of money are sometimes facing unexpected hurdles just before their scheduled releases.

Allari Naresh’s Ramba Oorvasi Menaka is likely to miss its September 3 release date after the film could not get certification as expected. Reports suggest that the Board raised concerns over the costumes of the characters Ramba, Oorvasi and Menaka, with suggestions to use more traditional sarees, instead of revealing dresses.

If the issue is not resolved, the makers may have to approach the Revising Committee.

Mythri Movie Makers and Prashant Neel’s 418 movie was supposed to release in July but it got postponed indefinitely. The Censor Board reportedly complained too much of horror in a horror film. The movie has approached the Revising Committee already.

Korean Kanakaraju team also faced issue as the Board Members felt the movie could potentially disturb the international relations between India and Korea. The team had to toil really hard to convince them.

We have seen many filmmakers having to change their film titles at the last minute. Once titles change for small films, their entire promotional campaign is collapsed.

Producing films have become increasingly difficult with lot of uncertainty. Producers are spending huge money on promotions and if the movie does not release on time, the money spent until then will go down the drain.

The teams have to start fresh promotions again for the new release date. The industry is suffering in silence because they fear backlash if they complain or speak about it in the Public.
