Toxic’s English Gamble Fails Big

Toxic was one of the most ambitious Indian films in recent times. The makers even shot the film in English along with Kannada, hoping to connect with international audiences and take Indian cinema to a global market.

However, the plan has flopped big time. While the film opened big due to Yash’s massive popularity, the English version has failed to make a significant impact at the global box office. The response has been quite bad, and there are no takers for the film globally.

Many praised the stylish presentation and Yash’s screen presence. However, the writing, screenplay, and overall treatment received criticism. Reviews and social media reactions have been bad, with many pointing out issues in storytelling and emotional depth.

The film highlights an important lesson for Indian filmmakers aiming at the international market. A movie must first strongly connect with domestic audiences before expanding globally.

In the case of Toxic, the team focused on creating a global product, but the mixed reception in its core markets affected its international momentum. The ambition was huge, but the execution failed, making the English version the biggest disappointment.
