Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s movies are bold, intense and hard-hitting. His lead characters have that eccentricity. Their dialogues in his movies have that attitude tone. Looks like Sandeep also has it, at least to some extent. Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s fresh comments at the pre-release event of Epic landed him into a minor controversy.
When anchor Suma asked Sandeep about his first reaction to the Epic trailer and the team’s statement that it would be a love story between a Sekhar Kammula hero and a Sandeep Reddy Vanga heroine, describing it as “Sekhar Kammula cinema lo hero lanti Abbayi and Sandeep Reddy Vanga cinema lo hero lanti Ammayi,” Sandeep Reddy Vanga responded impulsively, saying, “Naku Sekhar Kammula Herolu Nacharu.”
These off-the-cuff comments of Sandeep Reddy Vanga did not go well with many. Everyone is questioning Sandeep, how can he dislike the way Sekhar Kammula portrayed Rana Daggubati-type characters in Leader?
But Sandeep may have been speaking strictly from his own perspective. In fact, he has said that he likes Sekhar Kammula’s heroines and the way the filmmaker presents them in a sensual, visually appealing manner.
So, his comments may be more about his personal preferences than a criticism of Kammula’s filmmaking. But it has already caused damage and triggered negative reactions.
Meanwhile, Epic is all set for release on September 11. The film features Anand Deverakonda and Vaishnavi Chaitanya in the lead roles.
