SS Rajamouli is one of the greatest filmmakers in Indian cinema. He debuted with the film Student No. 1 and it completes 25 years today. It also marks Rajamouli’s 25 years in Tollywood as a successful director. Rajamouli will remain special for showcasing the might of Telugu cinema on premier global stages like the Oscars. Rajamouli hailed from humble roots and set a gold standard in filmmaking, sustaining an uninterrupted winning streak. With no flops to his credit, Rajamouli has emerged as the torchbearer of the film fraternity. He began his career directing television serials and made his silver screen debut with NTR’s Student No. 1.

After Student No. 1, Rajamouli delivered a string of commercial hits. Simhadri, Sye, Chatrapathi, and Vikramarkudu are some of his biggest blockbusters. Rajamouli’s signature style is blending high-octane emotions with towering character arcs. In later years, Rajamouli introduced cutting-edge technology to Telugu films and relentlessly experimented with visual effects. Magadheera and Eega are prime examples.

With Magadheera, he redefined the fantasy genre in Tollywood. By conceiving and helming a cult classic like Eega, Rajamouli turned the attention of audiences worldwide. And then came the mighty Baahubali!

With Baahubali, Rajamouli defined Indian cinema into two distinct eras. Before Baahubali and after Baahubali. Rajamouli proved that cinema transcends regional boundaries and laid the foundation for the Pan-Indian culture. Baahubali’s collections projected Indian cinema onto the international map.

In the post-Baahubali era, Rajamouli’s popularity reached new heights with RRR. The song Naatu Naatu from the film won an Academy Award and a Golden Globe. The movie also earned the praise of Hollywood filmmakers.

Up next is Varanasi for Rajamouli. Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran are the leads in the film. Billed as an Globe trotting action-adventure, the film is already one of the most awaited films in the coming days. The film carries high expectations and is gearing up for a grand release in April next year.
