Kannada Hit Misses the Telugu Potential?

Premada Oorali is one of the successful Kannada films, released this year. Billed to be a musical romantic drama, the film is directed by Manoj Kumar who earlier won a National Film Award. The movie was released theatrically on September 25, 2026.

Shree Raam and Thapaswini Poonacha played the lead roles, alongside Rangayana Raghu. The movie has become a surprise hit at the box office, grossing almost 8 Cr rupees in the first week, with a limited release.

Since the film has become a big blockbuster at the box office, the makers decided to release the film in Telugu, titled Premane Oorilo. The dubbed version was released today but because of no promotions, the film failed to make use of a brilliant opportunity.

Since the new releases in Telugu did not leave any impact, there was a chance for Premada Oorali to become the immediate preference for the audiences, given the kind of success it saw in Kannada.

The film’s story follows a strong-willed modern woman who marries into an old-school village family, forcing a self-absorbed father-son duo to navigate chaotic domestic adjustments and generational bias. The film is praised for its performances and the way it was executed. Also since it is a romantic drama, the film easily targets the family audiences.

The film has become a surprise box office success in Karnataka, growing from about 45 daily shows to over 400 shows. At least now, the team must begin some promotional activity and divert some attention to the film.
