Rakul Breaks Silence on IT Raids & Gifted Property Claims

The Income Tax raids on actress Rakul Preet and her family took the national attention.There were reports of IT Raids at Rakul Preet’s residence and her father-in-law Vashu Bhagnani’s offices.

In her first response days after the IT raids news went viral, Rakul Preet made it very clear that she doesn’t hold any Benami property on behalf of anyone. Rakul stressed that she doesn’t hold Benami properties either in India or abroad. She also made it very clear that she is a law-abiding citizen and came from an Army background family and she has been promptly paying her Income Tax from as early as she was 20.

Clarifying that the Income Tax search was not related to her, Rakul Preet said reports linking her to any financial irregularities were incorrect.

Rakul said there has been a growing tendency among some online reporters and sections of the mainstream media to sensationalise news without verifying facts. She stressed that the IT search was not pertaining to her.

Rakul Preet also highlighted her Armed Forces background and said she entered the film industry without a godfather, building her career through hard work and being a very responsible citizen by duly paying taxes.

Rakul further clarified that she is not involved in any illegal foreign remittances, either in her personal capacity or on behalf of any production house. She also categorically stated that she does not hold any benami property for anyone, either in India or abroad. She added that nobody has ever gifted her any property at any point and said she does not accept such expensive gifts as a matter of principle.

Rakul Preet’s statement comes amid reports surrounding the Income Tax department’s searches, with the actress seeking to put an end to speculation about her alleged involvement.
