SS Rajamouli is once again pushing the boundaries of Indian cinema with his upcoming film Varanasi. After creating the fictional Kiliki language for the Kalakeya tribe in Baahubali, the ace filmmaker is now developing an entirely new language for Varanasi.
It is a known fact that the Mahesh Babu starrer will feature time travel. So, for one of the sequences related to an ancient cave, Rajamouli has reportedly hired a linguistic expert to create a brand-new language and script from scratch.
Unlike Kiliki, which was mainly spoken by the Kalakeya tribe in Baahubali, the new language in Varanasi is expected to have a much larger role in the story. Reports suggest it will include its own structure, making it a key part of the narrative.
Rajamouli’s attention to detail has always been one of his biggest strengths. This new language in Varanasi could offer audiences a completely new cinematic experience and immerse them in a new world altogether.
Varanasi also stars Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Prithviraj Sukumaran in lead roles and is set for release on April 7, 2026. Mahesh Babu has already wrapped up his part of the shoot, and very soon, the other schedules will also be completed by the end of this year.
