Tamil actor and director Pradeep Ranganathan is facing online attention over an old tweet targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The tweet, posted in 2018, has resurfaced and is now being widely discussed on social media.
Before making his directorial debut with Jayam Ravi’s Komali in 2019, Pradeep was relatively unknown. During Modi’s visit to Tamil Nadu ahead of the 2019 elections, the hashtag ‘Go Back Modi’ gained traction on social media, with Pradeep also joining the trend.
Years later, Pradeep has become one of Tamil cinema’s popular young stars. Love Today, in which he played the lead role, brought him widespread recognition and went on to emerge as a major box office success. Dragon and Dude further strengthened his position as a bankable name.
Now, the old tweet has returned to the spotlight, with some pro Modi users trolling the actor while others have come out in his support. The resurfacing post has triggered fresh debate over Pradeep’s past social media activity.
However, given the political climate in Tamil Nadu, where opposition to the BJP and Modi remains a prominent part of the political discourse, the tweet may not necessarily become a major setback for the actor.
