Sundeep Kishan’s Karikaala Journey Begins

A sprawling mythical universe, a formidable warrior, and a story designed to unfold across two cinematic chapters- Karikaala is shaping up to be one of Sundeep Kishan’s most ambitious ventures. The pan-India socio-fantasy film was launched with a traditional pooja ceremony today, marking the beginning of a project that aims to bring a grand fantasy world to life.

Shining Pictures, headed by producers Mahidhar Reddy and Rajashekhar Annabhimoju, is backing the film, with Ugandhar Muni at the helm. The director, who previously delivered Shambhala, is now attempting a project on a much broader scale, combining mythological imagination with adventure and social elements.

The makers have already offered a glimpse of their vision through the title announcement and first-look poster. Sundeep Kishan’s fierce warrior appearance immediately established a different visual identity for the film, suggesting a character whose journey will be closely tied to the mysteries of an ancient world.

Catherine Tresa, Sakkshi Mhadolkar and Gayatri Bhardwaj will share the screen as the leading ladies, while Sricharan Pakala is composing the music. The remaining cast and technical team are expected to be revealed in due course.

One of the film’s most notable features is its planned two-chapter release strategy. Chapter 1 is scheduled to reach theatres worldwide on July 2, 2027, with Chapter 2 following on October 28, 2027. The relatively close release dates point to the makers’ intention to present the larger narrative as an interconnected cinematic event.

Karikaala is being mounted as a multilingual production in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi.
