Ramayana is one of the most prestigious and monumental high-budget mythological sagas in Indian cinema history. The latest film retells the epic saga, and the team launched a release trailer today with new visuals. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film is heading for a grand release this Diwali.
The new trailer of Ramayana opens with an authoritative voiceover narrating the era when gods walked among mortals on Earth and the wrath of a supreme demon empowered by Lord Brahma’s boons. Soon after, Yash enters as Ravana. Slowly, the trailer shifts to Ranbir Kapoor’s introduction as Maryada Purushottama Sri Rama. The trailer establishes Yash as the symbol of Adharma and Ranbir as the one who restores Dharma.
While some trailer sequences build excitement, the visual effects, which were supposed to be the film’s USP, draw mixed reactions. The VFX shots show definite improvement, however compared with previous versions, some visuals still fall short. The team claims the film is being made on a 4000 Cr budget ( 2 parts ), which is huge. We have to see how the film justifies it.
The confrontation scenes between Ranbir and Yash promise a theatre experience. Sai Pallavi portrays Goddess Sita, and Ravi Dubey plays Lakshmana. Sunny Deol will play Lord Hanuman. Lara Dutta, Rakul Preet Singh, Kajal Aggarwal, and Arun Govil are also seen in the film.
Oscar-winning composer A. R. Rahman and Hollywood titan Hans Zimmer have teamed up for the first time on this venture. The score elevated the trailer to global standards. Global visual effects powerhouse DNEG is handling the VFX, with Namit Malhotra producing it.
The first part of the film hits screens on November 5th.
