Director Girish AD is quite disappointed about the shelving of Premalu 2. The filmmaker, who delivered the recent Malayalam romantic blockbuster BKU, has now expressed his frustration over the sequel not moving forward.
Speaking about the sequel, Girish said, “We wasted a year on Premalu 2. There was absolutely no need to shelve it.” His statement suggests that considerable effort went into developing the sequel before the plans were dropped.
The news has once again brought attention to the much-awaited follow-up to Premalu. The original film became a major success, winning audiences with its relatable romance, youthful humour and performances by Naslen and Mamitha Baiju.
Naturally, expectations were high for the team to reunite for another chapter. However, the sequel’s shelving has raised questions about what went wrong behind the scenes. There were earlier rumours that creative differences had developed between Girish AD and actor Naslen.
Girish’s latest comments indicate that he remains unhappy about the decision, especially after spending so much time working on the film. For fans who hoped to see the Premalu team return, the development is disappointing.
