Dil Raju Plays It Safe With Ramayana

Starting advance bookings 13 days before release is an unusual move for a pan-India film. Ramayana Part 1 has done exactly that, with ticket sales opening across languages on BookMyShow and District. The film has already started trending, but the interesting part is its ticket pricing strategy in the Telugu states.

Dil Raju, who acquired the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana distribution rights through SVC, is taking the safe route by releasing the film without ticket price hikes.

In Andhra Pradesh, audiences can watch the visual spectacle in multiplexes for around ₹177, with an additional ₹25 for 3D tickets. In Hyderabad, ticket prices range from ₹200 to ₹295, with extra charges for 3D. Had special hikes been approved, audiences would have had to pay an additional ₹50 to ₹75.

For a film like Ramayana, attracting maximum footfalls is more important than collecting extra money through higher ticket prices. Epic films have the potential to bring entire families to theatres, and keeping prices reasonable could help the film reach a wider audience.

Recent films like Peddi, Toxic and The Paradise have faced challenges with audience expectations and ticket pricing. Dil Raju appears to be avoiding that risk with Ramayana, choosing regular ticket rates and show timings instead of depending on special permissions.

The film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash, Sunny Deol and Rakul Preet Singh. The team is also promoting the film across major cities, hoping to build stronger buzz before its release.

Director Nitesh Tiwari has repeatedly expressed confidence in presenting the story of Lord Rama on an unprecedented visual scale. If the film delivers on that promise, Dil Raju’s safe game with ticket prices could prove to be a smart business decision.
