Kollywood’s Absolute Golden Period!

Tamil cinema is one of the major contributors in terms of revenue in Indian cinema. However, last year was not satisfactory for Kollywood, but the current year is highly satisfactory in terms of results as well as revenue at the box office.

The interesting fact is that there were back-to-back hits in the last 90 days. Starting from DC to the recent Jailer 2, many films have become hits at the box office, indicating a golden period for the Tamil movie industry.

Arun Matheswaran’s DC marked the debut of Lokesh Kanagaraj as an actor. The film became a big musical hit. And then, there was Suriya, who took forward his success momentum with Viswanath and Sons. He had already scored a hit with Karuppu, directed by RJ Balaji. Venky Atluri’s Viswanath and Sons became a big success, proving Suriya as a potential A-star in the industry.

And then, Soori also surprised everyone, including the audience, with the success of Mandaadi where Telugu actor Suhaas played key villain role. Then, Tamil cinema immediately witnessed the success of Modha Rathri, followed by Dorothy and Baththa.

Both Dorothy and Baththa deserve a special mention. They came with no expectations and emerged as winners in terms of people’s choice. Moreover, the films have also proved at the box office to an extent.

The big banger among the list is Jailer 2, creating new records at the box office. As of now, the box office result of Jailer 2 is the biggest of the year. Rajini’s swag yet again worked big time at the box office.

Not only has it won the public’s hearts, but most Tamil films have also become money spinners at the box office. Tamil Cinema is truly in its golden period.
