RRR Satellite & Digital Rights: 325 Crores?

RRR is one of the prestigious projects being made currently in Telugu cinema. The film is treated as a pan-India project since it will have a release in all South languages and Hindi. With the name SS Rajamouli on the film’s poster, the distributors will not limit themselves in bidding on the film’s rights. Now, a recent report reveals that post-theatrical satellite and digital rights were sold to Zee5 for 325 crores.

The latest deal is for all the languages that the film releases in. The film unit announced the release of the movie in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi languages. This is said to be the biggest deal in the history of Indian cinema. The regional channels under the Zee network will premiere the film on television while the film can be streamed on the Zee5 platform.

Zee Network is one of the largest cinema networks in the country and they are usually active in procuring content in Hindi cinema but it looks like they are going to dominate the South market, starting with this film.

On the other hand, the theatrical business of the film for different languages is also expected to create new records in the trade. The film unit is yet to complete the shoot and they will resume work once the situation returns to normalcy.

Directed by SS Rajamouli, RRR is produced by DVV Danayya under the DVV Entertainments banner. Jr NTR and Ram Charan play Komaram Bheemand Alluri Sitaramaraju respectively. Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Samuthrakhani, Oliviya Morris, and others are a part of the project.

RRR is scheduled for a grand release on October 13th, 2021 but with the pandemic around, the release date could be changed.
