Ban The Family Man 2 Premieres: TN Govt

The Family Man 2 trailer has got huge attention from the first season fans. While the fans of The Family Man are rejoicing as the release date is nearing, the controversy regarding the portrayal of Tamil Tigers has also grown big. The makers have changed the trailer a bit, but it appears that did not help any.

The latest reports say that the Tamil Nadu government has responded to the alleged ‘discrediting of Tamil Tigers’ in The Family Man 2. The government shot a letter to the Minister of Information and Broadcasting, asking The Family Man 2 to be banned from premieres as it has a ‘highly objectionable’ depiction of Eelam Tamils and distorting the historical struggle of Eelam Tamils in Sri Lanka.

The letter also mentioned the sacrifices of their long-drawn-out democratic battle and that it was undermined the value of Tamil culture. It also alleged the serial has loads of insults and insinuations against the glorious Tamil Culture.

It further mentions the casting of a Tamil actress Samantha as a terrorist in the serial is directly an attack on the pride of Tamils living around the world and the mischievous campaign will not be tolerated.

The TN govt asked not to hurt the sentiments of Eelam Tamils but broadcasting as it also would be prejudicial to the maintenance of harmony in the State. The Tamil Nadu government requested to take immediate action either to stop or ban the release of ‘The Family Man 2’ in OTT, Amazon Prime not only in Tamilnadu but also across the Country.
