Andhra Student Shot Dead in Greater Noida Hostel

In a shocking incident, a 22-year-old MBA student named Deepak Kumar reportedly died of bullet injuries in his hostel room near Knowledge Park in Greater Noida near New Delhi. Deepak’s 23-year-old roommate, Devansh Chauhan, has sustained severe injuries in the incident and is battling for his life in the ICU at Kailash Hospital in Greater Noida.

Both Deepak Kumar and Devansh Chauhan were studying in the first year of the PGDM program at BIMTECH in Greater Noida. According to the preliminary reports, the cops who are investigating the case have recovered a gun from the spot. However, police are yet to ascertain who shot whom.

Devansh reportedly returned to his hostel on Tuesday after celebrating his father’s retirement at his home in Agra. His father, Surendra Singh Chauhan, had retired as a Circle Officer in the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force on August 31.

The grieving father has confirmed to the police that the gun recovered from the spot was his personal revolver. “I kept it inside an almirah and locked it. I don’t know when my son took it out and brought it along,” Surendra said. Devansh lost his mother in the Covid-19 second wave in 2021.

According to their classmates, both Devansh Chauhan and Deepak Kumar were the toppers of their class. They have been staying in Greater Noida for the last three years. The college authorities have not released any official statement to the press and have instructed the students to not talk about the incident with the media.
