As we had reported earlier, noted Tamil film maker Sudha Kongra, who is one of the few female filmmakers in South Indian cinema had approached the court regarding her remuneration. She added that the producers of her recent film Parashakti did not pay her in full and approached the court on this matter.
Now there is a new twist in the tail as a production company has said that Sudha had suppressed the receipt of another parcel of remuneration that she had already received.
Dawn Pictures has alleged that Sudha had received ₹4.12 crore from 2D Entertainment Private Limited for having written the script, screenplay and dialogues for the movie Parasakthi but suppressed the fact before the court.
Dawn Pictures told the court that Sudha entered into a director’s agreement with it on July 2, 2024 for a remuneration of ₹15 crore and on December 18, 2024 she terminated a similar 2021 agreement entered with 2D Entertainment on receipt of ₹4.12 crore for the same movie.
Meanwhile, the bench at the Madras High Court is likely to pass a judgement today on a plea to restrain the release of Dawn’s next venture Idhayam Murali starring Tamil actor Atharvaa.
So as of now, there’s no interim relief for Sudha in Paraskthi fee dispute as Madras High Court refused to halt the release of Dawn Pictures’ Idhayam Murali over her ₹8.39 crore fee claim over Parasakthi.
