Modi Govt Acts on Everything Except the Youth’s Main Demand

The ongoing students protest in Delhi is out with the clear mandate of demanding the resignation of education minister, Dharmendra Pradhan on moral grounds for the recent NEET paper leak. But the Modi government is not prepared for the same, and they are doing everything but the ousting of Pradhan.

Last night, Prime Minister Modi released a video on social media where he said his government would take strong measures against the individuals involved with paper leaks. This is substantiated by a discussion in the cabinet meeting today.

Reportedly the central Cabinet discussed with the area of bringing several reforms in the education and examination sector in view of the ongoing protests. It has been collectively decided that more severe restrictions will have to be brought with regard to the corrective measures on these matters.

This includes elevated fines, which are significantly higher than the existing numbers, and also the possibility of increased jail term for those who are caught in these illicit activities.

The government has changed the principal secretary for higher education and has proposed the idea of elevating the fines and jail term. But the real demand of the student is something much more significant as their firm on the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan.

There is a clear contradiction in the deliverables that are being displayed by the students and the government, so this conflict is likely to revolve further till common ground is found.
