U-Turn: Jagan asks to keep 'Kalam' name

AP CM YS Jagan led YSRCP government is in a spree of renaming the welfare schemes after the late YS Rajasekhar Reddy. On Tuesday, the YSRCP re-designated ''Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Pratibha Puraskar'' awards to ''YSR Vidya Puraskar'' Awards which did not go well with the public.

In no time the issue turned big and on social media the netizens slammed the YSRCP government for insulting Bharat Ratna Abdul Kalam. The hashtag #YSRCPInsultsAPJAbdulKalam is trending with over twenty three thousands tweets.

"@ysjagan's govt changing ''APJ Abdul Kalam Pratibha Puraskar'' to ''YSR Vidya Puraskar'' is a shocking method of self-aggrandizement at the cost of disrespecting a much venerated man," tweeted TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu.

Rectifying the mistake, AP CM YS Jagan fumed over the officials for issuing such an order (G.O) without his knowledge. He directed the officials to withdraw the G.O and asked them retained Kalam's name for the awards. Also Jagan asked the officials include few more names of leaders who have sacrificed for the nation.

So that settles the issue of GO (Ms no. 78) which created ripples in the AP political circles.
