Love him or hate him, but US President Donald Trump is inarguably a major force to reckon with in world politics. Amidst the drastically falling approval ratings for his 100-day rule, Trump displayed his trademark audacity and bragged about his second term as the President of the USA in a latest interview with The Atlantic, the media house that exposed the Signalgate involving Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
“The first time, I had two things to do – run the country and survive. I had all these crooked guys,” Trump said. He went on to state that his second term is different from the first one. “And the second time, I run the country and the world,” he said, adding that he is having “a lot of fun” in his second term. He also praised tech billionaires Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg, saying that the billionaire class now shows a higher level of respect for him, unlike during his first term as POTUS. “Maybe they didn’t know me at the beginning, and they know me now,” he added.
Trump also opened up about a possible third term in 2028. When asked if he’d be running for president in the upcoming elections, Trump said, “Well, maybe I’m just trying to shatter.” “It’s not something that I’m looking to do. And I think it would be a very hard thing to do.” Trump’s comments come in the wake of his organisation selling Trump 2028 hats and t-shirts. He said that the Democrats have lost their confidence in the truest sense.
Despite his tall claims, Trump’s second term has not been a bed of roses. He faced brickbats for the strict implementation of his anti-immigration agenda, kicking off a global trade war by imposing sanctions on major economies like China, dismantling federal agencies through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), proposing making Canada America’s 51st state, and annexing Greenland.
