The Donald Trump administration in the United States is largely marketed with radical and unforeseen decisions on several matters. And on that note, one of the major reforms brought by the Trump administration is the implementation of DOGE system which intends to cut down government expenses.
This program was designed and headed by Elon Musk who was an integral part of the Trump campaign. However, the efficiency of this program was always in question and particularly so after Americans revolted against its decisions to fire a sizeable portion of government and state employees.
In this context, the latest reports from leading global media giant Reuters had been saying that the Trump administration had decided to nullify DOGE due to lack of adequate results.
However, the latest clarification from the DOGE suggests that the program is very much active. “As usual, this is fake news from @Reuters. President Trump was given a mandate by the American people to modernize the federal government and reduce waste, fraud and abuse.
Just last week, DOGE terminated 78 wasteful contracts and saved taxpayers $335M. We’ll be back in a few days with our regularly scheduled Friday update,” the statement from DOGE read.
If this statement is anything to go by, then DOGE which is run by Elon Musk is indeed happening. But at the same time, there are also reports that Elon himself had distanced from the organisation and is no longer active.
Whatever might be the end result, this DOGE program is a big mess and there’s a lot of skeptical talk happening on the same which is not what Trump or Musk wanted in the first place. This comes at a time when the relationship between Trump and Elon itself is in question, to make matters worse.
