An Indian origin couple in their 50s have died after a light aircraft crashed in a remote area of northern Wales.
The victims have been identified as Ketan Swali and his wife Sheetal. Ketan is believed to have been flying the Piper PA28 aircraft when it took off from Tatenhill Airport in England last week.
The aircraft was scheduled to land at Caernarfon Airport in north west Wales. When it failed to arrive, police launched air and ground searches. The plane was later found in an isolated area near Trawsfynydd.
Both Ketan and Sheetal were pronounced dead at the scene. A post mortem examination has provisionally identified major impact trauma as the cause of death.
The Air Accidents Investigation Branch has started an investigation to determine what caused the crash.
Ketan was reportedly based in Leicester and was associated with an engineering company. Police and investigators are continuing to look into the circumstances surrounding the tragic accident.
