Indian-Origin Store Owner Shot Dead In US In Front Of His Daughter

Quite a number of Indians often suffer the consequences of illegal use of weapons in USA. In another similar incident, an Indian origin shop owner named Suresh Patel was shot dead during an armed robbery in Jackson, Tennessee.

The 56 year-old businessman, who hails from Gujarat state in India, died on spot after an unidentified man wearing a mask resorted to firing multiple shots at him even though the demand for money was fulfilled.

The shooting occurred around 9:00 PM at Ridgecrest Cellars Wine and Spirits on Ridgecrest Road. According to police reports, Patel had purchased and taken over the business just days before the attack. The masked man initially demanded money from the store owner and later fired at him.

What is more shocking is that the entire episode of violence was witnessed by Patel’s 19 year old daughter. She luckily managed to escape unhurt while another store employee suffered injuries during the assault.

Local authorities have gathered security camera footage and launched a search to track down the shooter. The suspect is described as a man wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, black boots, and a paintball mask covering his face

The tragic news of the killing has brought deep grief to Patel’s home village of Akhaj in Gujarat’s Mehsana district. Patel had lived in the United States for nearly three decades before recently moving his work to Tennessee.
