Flydubai: Indian Captain Risks Own Life, Saves 180 Onboard?

In a shocking mid-air incident, the co-pilot of a Flydubai flight had attacked Captain with a knife while the aircraft was travelling from Dubai to Israel and allegedly tried to affect the plane carrying 180 passengers. The Captain and the First Officer had reportedly suffered injuries resulting in sounds from the cockpit.

With this, two off-duty pilots travelling on the same flight, along with some passengers, rushed to intervene and save Captain and First Officer from the co-pilot. The blood stains were found inside the cockpit. This triggered severe panic among those on board. This shocking incident took place around two and half hours after the plane took off from Dubai.

According to Israeli media reports, the Captain who was attacked was an Indian national. It said that the Captain risking his life fought with the co-pilot despite being severely injured and helped prevent the aircraft from crashing, thereby saving the lives of around 180 people on board.

However, the captain’s nationality, identity and the full details of the incident are yet to come out. Israeli authorities are also reportedly investigating the possibility of a terror plot behind the incident.

According to the Israeli media reports, the co-pilot is an Omani national. This has raised questions as Israel and Oman do not have diplomatic relations. Authorities are reportedly examining how an Omani national was allowed to travel as a co-pilot on a flight to Tel Aviv. There are also doubts that the co-pilot may have had dual citizenship.

The exact circumstances behind the cockpit confrontation and the motive for the alleged knife attack are still under investigation. More details are awaited.
