US Suspends Microsoft, Infosys, TCS From Green Card Programme

In what could be a shocking move that will only add to the miseries of Indians in USA, Trump’s government has announced immediate suspension of major IT companies from Permanent Labor Certification (PERM) program, which is the first step for foreign employees on H-1B for an employment-based Green Card.

US Vice President JD Vance and Labor Secretary Keith Sonderling announced that tech giants including Microsoft and Adobe, along with top Indian IT outsourcing firms like Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Wipro, HCL, Cognizant, and Capgemini are barred from the scheme with immediate effect.

They stated that severe fraud and system abuse by top corporate firms as the main reason behind this unexpected suspension. Government officials pointed out that tech firms were firing thousands of American workers while simultaneously hiring foreign staff on H-1B visas for lower wages.

From the past few days, JD Vance has been repeatedly calling out companies for misusing visa programs to bring in international students to undercut American labor wages. He even proposed to permanently end the H-1B program to put an end to this culture.

Meanwhile, the US federal government also launched official investigations into nine famous American universities, including Harvard, Stanford, and Yale. Officials claim these educational institutions are misusing visa programs.

Now, the shocking decision to debar major IT giants will directly impacts foreign tech professionals and thousands of Indian engineering graduates working across the US because many of the H-1B workers rely on employers to file green card applications through PERM program.

Now that major IT companies and tech employers are barred from this crucial visa path, foreign workers face huge uncertainty regarding their job safety and long-term stay in the country.
