3 Lakh Visas Revoked In Trump 2.0: A Record In US History!

Amid ongoing immigration crackdown during Trump’s second term, the US State Department has officially announced that the administration has revoked more than 3,00,000 visas so far since January 2025. This is a record number of revocations in the history of USA for any government.

Federal authorities opined that this strict action is necessary to improve national security and protect the country from potential legal risks. Though it is unclear which type of Visa form majority of these revocations, it appears like the number includes all categories like student, job, spouse and visitor applications.

Since taking charge, Trump has strongly advocated for stricter immigration policies and brought several reforms that have choked international migrants from various countries, especially Indians.

Besides hiking up Visa fees and adopting a zero tolerance for foreign visitors, workers, or students who break local laws or commit visa fraud, the Trump’s administration has ramped up background checks and digital tracking to find individuals who violate rules.

The government says these steps are necessary to keep public spending and communities safe. But, there is considerable backlash from the American community itself over these measures.

Legal experts and human rights groups have criticized the move, claiming it hurts innocent people and restricts freedom of speech. Many minority groups say the government is using small issues to cancel legal visas without proper court hearings.

However, Trump’s administration plans to continue its aggressive checks, which means the number of cancelled visas could go even higher in the coming months.
