Recently, Indian origin entrepreneur and politician Vivek Ramaswamy faced backlash from all quarters over a controversial advertisement featuring his opponent in the ongoing race for Ohio governor in USA. However, US President Donald Trump came in support for the Republican candidate and encouraged the latter to continue his campaign.
Trump posted on his social media telling Ramaswamy to “keep it up” and keep airing the controversial advertisement. Trump called the commercial as a powerful message and attacked democratic candidate Acton with harsh words.
Trump also lashed out at Ohio Republican Governor Mike DeWine, who publicly asked Ramaswamy to take down the ad. Trump accused DeWine of being disloyal to the party for opposing the aggressive campaign strategy.
In the advertisement, the mother calls her daughter a liar and urges voters not to support her. The political move caused immediate anger from both parties because Acton was separated from her mother as a child following severe family abuse.
Ramaswamy faced criticism within the party as well as several leaders condemned it and asked him to remove the advertisement as such personal attacks could hurt the party’s chances in the poll.
Surprisingly, Vice President JD Vance defended the campaign and told critics inside the party to stop complaining. Now, Trump also extended his support despite mixed reactions.
While political experts believe this controversial ad could backfire on Republicans in Ohio, Trump and JD Vance are confident that Ramaswamy will win the poll.
