The Telangana government is likely to reopen schools and colleges for physical classes from September. The decision has been made citing the massive drop in the COVID-19 cases in the state. It is reported that CM KCR conducted a review meeting with the education department officials on the reopening and took the decision.
The high-level meeting also had State education minister Sabitha Indira Reddy and other officials from the education department present. As of now, the state government intends to resume physical classes for students above class 8, including Inter colleges.
At present, classes are being held online and in distance mode for everyone. It was also decided that the rationalization process will be taken up depending upon the students’ strength.
Rationalization is a process through which schools (or colleges) with surplus teachers will be integrated with those with fewer students to benefit both, thereby reducing the financial burden on state-run schools.
Not so long ago, even the state education department had submitted a report to KCR stating that the educational institutions can be reopened as the COVID-19 cases are under control. The government had collected school-wise and college-wise feedback from parents in August.
