Guntur: Woman gang-raped by four men!

Despite bringing stringent laws, the crimes against women are not stopping and in yet another incident, a married woman was gang-raped by four men in Guntur.

Going into details, a couple residents of Sathenapalli were returning to their home after attending a wedding at Paalapaadu on Wednesday midnight. Unidentified men stopped the couple and threatened them with knives at an isolated place surrounded by farm lands. The miscreants manhandled the husband and took him away while the lady was dragged into the farm lands and was reportedly raped. The miscreants also snatched the jewellery of the lady.

Past 12 o’clock the offenders left the couple and escaped from the place. However, when the couple approached Sathenapalli police station, they allegedly declined to file a case claiming that their police station falls under Guntur rural jurisdiction while the crime happened in Guntur urban limits. But Sathenapalli DSP denied any negligence and added that the police reacted to the crime and gathered all the information within seven minutes.

Later the couple lodged a complaint at Medikonduru police station and upon the complaint, the police deployed dogs’ squad and clues team at the crime scene for evidence. About 10 suspects have been arrested by the cops so far and the investigation is going in full swing. The dogs squad identified a cold storage construction near the crime scene and the police suspect that workers at this construction site might have been involved in the rape. Six people from Odisha and four from Vizianagaram district who were at this cold storage construction were detained by the police and they are being questioned.

The cops sent the victim woman to Guntur government hospital (GGH) and the doctors confirmed that her condition is stable. The police would be recording the statement of the woman and if possible the suspects might be produced before her.
