A Right To Information (RTI) report claimed that Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi did not pay rent for official residence, 10 Janpath located at Lutyens, New Delhi. The rent amount is overdue for the past 17 months and taking advantage of this, the BJP launched a massive social media attack.

The RTI report also revealed that the Congress party has to pay rent for its headquarter at 26 Akbar Road and another one at Chanakyapuri. Sonia’s official residence rent would cost Rs 4610 while for 26 Akbar Road and Chanakyapuri is Rs 12.7 Lakh and Rs 5.08 Lakh respectively.

The rent for 26 Akbar Road bungalow is unpaid since December 2012 and Chanakyapuri is unpaid from September 2013. The outstanding amount for both the properties could now touch crore.

Criticising Sonia Gandhi, BJP National Executive Member Amit Malviya wrote, “Sonia Gandhi made a big deal about paying for tickets of migrant workers. Turns out she has not paid her own house rent for one and a half year!”

Another BJP leader launched a social media campaign of transferring money to Sonia Gandhi’s bank account so that she can pay the rent.

It’s PM Modi who launched an attack on Congress over the pandemic crisis but the Congress hit back saying that they paid charges for train tickets of migrant workers. BJP has been searching for a loophole in Congress and they found out and it’s IT cell swung into action to troll Congress and Sonia Gandhi.
