Former Minister Narayana Gets Bail

Former minister and founder of Narayana Educational Institutions Ponguru Narayana was granted bail. The court granted the bail on personal surety.

Chittoor police arrested him at his residence in Hyderabad and shifted Narayana to Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh, in connection with the leakage of Class X exam question paper.

Later, he was taken to the government hospital for medical examination and then produced before the magistrate. From 1.30 am in the night to 4 am in the morning, there was prolonged hearing of the case. However, the judge set aside the allegations raised by the police.

Narayana’s counsel made it clear to the court that he had quit the chairman post in 2014 itself and also produced the evidences for it, following which the judge agreed with Narayana’s argument. The judge directed for granting conditional bail with two persons depositing Rs 1 lakh surety each.

After Narayana’s release, his counsel, speaking to media, said that the police levelled allegations stating that Narayana is the chairman of the group of educational institutions but he had quit the post in 2014 itself. He said that his client has no connection with the Narayana institutions and that they had submitted the relevant documents to the court to prove it. The judge felt that the charges were baseless, Narayana’s counsel said.

The judge directed for submission of personal surety of Rs 1 lakh each by two persons before May 18.
