AP BJP’s Dual Standards On Andhra Capital Row!

The AP BJP is displaying dual standards on Andhra Pradesh’s capital row. One day the party wants Amaravati as the sole capital of the state and the next day, it pushes the decision on YCP, saying the state government is the decision maker on the capital. Lately the Lotus leaders are voicing in support of Amaravati. AP BJP has extended full support to Amaravati farmers Paadayatra and ‘Nyayasthanam to Devasthanam’ yatra.

But recently BJP held Rayalaseema zonal meeting in Proddatur. In this meeting the BJP chief Somu Veerraju demanded that the High Court should be located in Kurnool and also vowed that they will take the responsibility of setting up a High Court in Kurnool instead of settling with the demand.

And a few days ago, BJP said it would lay special focus on the development of Vizag in Uttarandhra visit. In this very meeting, people questioned BJP’s stand on Vizag as Executive Capital. The local leaders and Somu had no answers for the people’s questions. When in Amravati, Somu Veerraju reiterates that AP has only one capital and it is Amaravati.

These multiple opinions suggest BJP’s daul standards on AP capital row and Amaravati. The government of India had made it clear in the affidavits submitted to the AP High Court that the establishment of the capital city is not within their purview.

The BJP leaders seem to have overlooked that the formation of the capital is entirely a matter within the jurisdiction of the state. Simultaneously BJP leaders and chief Somu are not able to carry forward the aspirations of the people. Capital means establishments such as the High Court, Assembly and Secretariat have to be reachable to the government and public.

What is Somu trying to imply with the demand of the High Court in Kurnool region?
