The other day the Supreme Court has granted bail to MLC Anantha Babu who is the prime accused in the brutal murder of his car driver who belongs to the Dalit community. On Wednesday night Anantha Babu walked out of the jail after spending 211 days behind bars.
Shockingly Anantha Babu received a grand welcome from his supporters and followers. As soon as Anantha Babu stepped into his car, flower petals were thrown at him while some reached out to him to put a garland. “Jai Babu.. Jai Jai Babu,” are some of the slogans shouted by Anantha Babu’s fans. Seeing the over enthusiasm of his fans, Anantha Babu waved his hand to greet them.
But one wonders why was Anantha Babu welcomed in a grand manner? Did he achieve anything? He committed a crime and there is every evidences be it oral or forensic against Anantha Babu that he murdered his driver. The police delayed the probe and failed to file a charge-sheet in this case due to political pressure. Eventually the Supreme Court granted bail.
Opposition leaders links this to the incident when Jagan release from Chanchalguda jail, They say that it’s not new to YCP to give a grand welcome their A1 accused leaders . This celebratory welcome is not a good sign but the society got used to laying a red carpet for the criminals with open arms. Where are we heading?
