The suicide attempt by Warangal medical student is turning out to be a big storm in political circles. The Warangal police have arrested the victim Preethi’s senior by name Saif and has been sent to 14 days custody. However, some medical students have come in support of Saif.
Post the arrest of Saif, Telangana BJP chief Bandi Sanjay alleged that this is a Love-Jihad incident. “Hindu girls are being trapped by Muslims boys and men and this has spread to Telangana. The BRS government knew it was a Love-Jihad case but is hiding key facts related to the case. The culprit was arrested for the namesake and the cases against him are ineffective,” claimed Bandi Sanjay.
The version of Preethi’s family, medical college management and the fellow students is completely different from Bandi Sanjay’s. The college authorities reportedly said that this was a small issue between two students but Preethi’s suicide attempt was unexpected. Students who came in support of Saif carried out placards with ‘Innocent Until Proven Guilty.’
Preethi’s father Narendra in a phone call to a popular news channel rubbished the allegations of ‘Love-Jihad.’ “There is no question of Love-Jihad in this incident but it is purely harassment,” said Narendra. This means Preethi was harrassed but the police need to do more detailed probe to verify the facts as what led Preethi to attempt suicide.
Meanwhile medico Preethi’s condition continues to be critical and her health is not stabilising according to latest media reports.
