How YSR’s Fee Reimbursement Reduced Migration Of Techies

During late YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s regime in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, many schemes were introduced and one of the popular ones is Fee Reimbursement. This scheme benefited many students who were economically poor. Apparently those benefitted from it are working as software professionals in the United States and here is a letter from Telugu NRIs Software Association showering full praise on YSR.

“We are penning this letter in order to clear the myths that are being spread for political reasons. Before 1997, only students from Vijayawada, Guntur, East and West Godavari students used to fly to the United States to pursue MS. The reason being, these districts were good in terms of agriculture and business which are good revenue sources. There were hardly any students from Rayalaseema and Telangana regions owing to financial situations. This scenario changed after YS Rajasekhar Reddy became the Chief Minister of erstwhile AP.

Because of the fee reimbursement scheme brought by YSR, thousands of young engineers from Rayalaseema region and Telangana region had the fortune to go to America. This letter is to expose the truth to people who believe in yellow media reports giving major credit to Chandrababu Naidu. If we take the number of engineers who came to the US during YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s regime, it’s not even 10 percent of them who landed here during Chandrababu’s regime.

It hurts that the media praises Naidu to the sky as if he invented the computer and trained the software engineers instead of the real God YSR who was behind the fee reimbursement scheme yet doesn’t get any credit.

Another important thing here is, erstwhile AP did not have a visa office and students used to go to Madras for visa stamping and it was a tedious and time consuming process. Learning about this, then CM YSR played a pivotal role for the establishment of a visa office in Hyderabad. This helped the students immensely and students from Rayalaseema benefitted from fee reimbursement schemes and were able to land in their dream jobs in the US. Now their families are financially stable and all the glory should go to YSR.

We appeal to the people of Andhra Pradesh not to believe the propaganda in the yellow media and not to believe Chandrababu who did not help anyone when he was in power.”
