Congress senior leader and former MP Chinta Mohan has played down the reports of YS Sharmila’s entry into Congress. He strongly condemned the reports of Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi visiting Idupulapaya. The propaganda of Congress senior leaders going to Idupulapaya has no base or truth. “Congress party had made a grave mistake by giving over importance to the late YS Rajasekhar Reddy. The party over-treated YSR. Now, the Congress party is not ready to make such a mistake again. The party won’t treat anyone separately,” said the former MP of Chittoor.
“Kasu Brahmananda Reddy, Kotla Vijayabhaskar Reddy, Marri Chenna Reddy too have daughters. Sharmila is the same as them. No one gets higher treatment. Immediately, Sharmila won’t get the chance to lead the party. The propaganda of Congress top leadership favouring Sharmila has no truth,” he added.
Meanwhile, YS Sharmila had condemned the reports of merging her political party YSRTP in to Congress. She alleged that attempts are being made by her political rivals to create gap between she and the people of Telangana.
Earlier, Sharmila met Karnataka Deputy CM and troubleshooter DK Shivkumar in Bengaluru. Since then, reports are rife about Sharmila merging YSRTP in to Congress. It is said that the proposal came from AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi. However, Congress leadership reportedly wanted Sharmila’s services for AP whereas Sharmila is only interested in Telangana politics.
