Legal Battles, What’s Lokesh’ Delhi Strategy?

Chandrababu Naidu’s quash petition has been rejected by the AP High Court. The court sent Naidu for a two-day CID custody in connection with the skill development scam. This has come as a rude shock to TDP.

Chandrababu Naidu’s case is getting tougher with each passing day. The TDP cadre is displeased with the happenings. While there are protests outside AP, the party leaders in the state need to do more activities to take the issue into the people. Amidst all this, there is a void in TDP to steer the party in the absence of Naidu.

On the other hand, it has been a week since Nara Lokesh parked himself in New Delhi. He gave few interviews to national media and try to highlight the Naidu arrest nationwide. He is trying his best to get appointments of the top brass of the BJP. But he has failed to get it.

Lokesh’s Yuva Galam padayatra was halted suddenly due to Naidu’s arrest. Lokesh is now putting all his energies in bringing out Chandrababu out of jail. But Lokesh’s absence in AP is conspicuous. Is there a strong reason for Lokesh to base out of Delhi? Is this TDP’s strategy?

However, many TDP leaders feel that Lokesh should be present in Andhra Pradesh in these critical times. As Lokesh’s Delhi trip is not creating any impact in terms of Chandrababu Naidu’s case, the TDP cadre is hoping him to return to AP state and fight against the YS Jagan-led state government.

Chandrababu’s Costly Lawyers Not Creating Impact?

Chandrababu Naidu has retained the services of some of the country’s top and most expensive lawyers to represent him in the skill development scam case. Notably, Supreme Court’s senior advocate Sidharth Luthra and former Solicitor General of India Harish Salve have been appointed for this purpose. However, despite their reputation and legal expertise, Naidu’s petition to quash the charges was rejected by the AP High Court.

Within the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) cadre, there’s a prevailing opinion that the hired advocates failed to present compelling arguments during the hearing. Some members believe that the legal team should have initially focused on securing bail for Naidu rather than stressing primarily on the quash petition. This approach could have potentially resulted in Naidu spending fewer days in judicial custody. There’s speculation that a prolonged stay in jail might garner sympathy for Naidu, a factor that could play into the TDP’s favor in the upcoming general elections.
