In preparation for the upcoming Telangana Assembly elections, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge unveiled the party’s manifesto on Friday, outlining a series of key promises and initiatives. Among the highlights, the manifesto includes the provision of a 1-tula Gold (equivalent to 10 grams) gift for brides, the distribution of free electric scooters to female students, a commitment to generate 2 lakh jobs, and a substantial 2 lakh crop loan waiver. The party also pledged to reinstate the “PRAJA DARBAR” daily at the Chief Minister’s camp office, ensuring constant availability of MLAs to their constituents and regular “PRAJA DARBARS” under good governance.

Some key points from the Telangana Manifesto include providing Rs. 1,00,000 and 10 grams of gold as the Indiramma gift to Hindu brides, Rs. 1,60,000 for minority girls at the time of their marriage, and electric scooters for all young women above 18 years of age pursuing education. The manifesto also promises to fill 2 lakh government jobs in the first year, fill backlog posts for SC, ST, BC, and Minority categories in the first year, and waive off crop loans of 2 lakhs at once upon assuming power. Notably, the manifesto also addresses the martyrs of the first and last phase of the Telangana movement, pledging official recognition, a government job for one family member, and a monthly honorary pension of Rs. 25,000 for their mother/father/wife.

Earlier, Congress had released specific declarations focusing on farmers, SC/ST communities, and youth as promises to the Telangana voters. The party, under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi, also announced six guarantees for Telangana, including financial assistance of Rs. 2,500 per month for women under the Mahalakshmi scheme, gas cylinders at Rs. 500, and free travel for women in TSRC buses across the state. Sonia Gandhi expressed the party’s commitment to fulfilling each of these guarantees, aiming to meet the aspirations of the people of Telangana.
