YSRCP went into election overdrive mode as the party changed the in-charges in 11 constituencies yesterday. The hierarchy relocated three cabinet ministers and shifted them to new constituencies. Also, Alla Ramakrishna Reddy left the party, and Gajuwaka MLA Tippala Nagi Reddy switched off his phone after his son Devan Reddy quit YCP yesterday. These many changes three months before the election has drawn comment that YCP is panicking about the polls already.
In tune with this development, YSRCP veteran leader Botsa Satyanarayana has made a concerning and attention-seeking statement. He said nothing is permanent in YCP.
“Jagan has the ground-level surveys on his table and he will decide the MLA ticket allocation based on the reports. There will be more changes in the party and its local leadership in the coming three months and we all should be prepared. Nothing is permanent in YCP here. There will be instinctive changes in the preparation for the election.” Botsa said while speaking with the media.
With Jagan likely to deny the tickets to 50 sitting MLAs, this rigorous relocation will mean that YCP is fielding a completely new setup in 2024. All this is an attempt to counter anti-incumbency. But the point to be noted is that anti-incumbency will originate from the party itself and not just the MLA candidates. If the voters think the party should go home and a new government should be formed, then none of these changes will yield results. That is a bare fact.
