PK’s Entry: Will It Benefit TDP Or Not?

Ahead of the Assembly elections, TDP supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu is sharpening strategies to emerge victorious. As part of it, renowned election strategist Prashant Kishor had been roped in to advise the TDP about its election campaigning and approach, which heated up the political atmosphere, even in the winter chill.

PK was taken to Naidu’s Undavalli residence from the Gannavaram airport where he spent quite sometime discussing about the YCP government’s shortfalls and misgovernance.

Naidu’s move evoked mixed response from political observers and his party cadre.

It is an undeniable fact that the YCP rose to power due to PK’s strategy during the last elections. However, differences cropped up between Jagan and PK, for reasons best known to them, following which the latter not only distanced himself from Jagan but even took potshots at him on several occasions. He even accused Jagan of pushing the state into neck-deep debts.

Some political observers faulted Naidu for consulting PK who does not even have half of his experience in politics while some others felt that PK’s opinions could adversely effect Naidu’s plans and action.

Coming to his party cadre, while Jana Senani Pawan Kalyan’s alliance with the TDP had already instilled hope about victory in the polls, PK’s entry had invigorated the TDP functionaries and rejuvenated their spirits. Several TDP leaders felt that PK’s modern and sure shot tactics were necessary for the party at this crucial time. Some others felt that PK’s specifically designed and modern campaign programmes were necessary to give the party the much-needed push and josh.

It has to be seen if PK’s approach in politics will yeild the desired results for the TDP.
