YS Sharmila is promising to be the next big thing in Andhra Pradesh politics and Congress, which was in a lifeless condition in AP for the last 10 years has started to breathe in some fresh air with the imminent entry of Sharmila.
AP Congress chief Gidugu Rudraraju has announced that Congress has opened talks with three potential allies, CPI, CPM, and Aam Aadmi Party for the next elections. He seemed hopeful of partnering with these three parties in AP for the 2024 elections.
If it hadn’t been for Sharmila, it wouldn’t have made much of a difference even if Congress combined with these three parties. The alliance would’ve been seen as a dead rubber.
But with Sharmila’s entry into AP Congress on the horizon, this alliance will give something to hold on to for the party cadre. Adding to that, Rudraraju announced that many sitting MLAs and MPs are in touch with Congress and said the party will see many drastic changes after the Sankranthi season.
YCP MLA from Mangalagiri Alla Ramakrishna Reddy already left Jagan’s side and joined Sharmila on her journey here. If Sharmila can pull off a bigger coup by attracting disappointed YSR loyalists in YCP and put together at least 20-30 notable contestants, Congress will be in a better position than in 2019, where it lost deposits in all 175 assembly constituencies.
But there is a negative remark on Sharmila for backing out from Telangana elections in the last minute. She has to undo this first by leading a whirlwind campaign for Congress in AP, only then will she be seen as a serious politician.
