Andhra Pradesh Congress is going through a change of personnel with the resignation of the current AP Congress president Gidugu Rudraraju. He sent the resignation to AICC President Kharge today and stepped down from the APCC presidency post.
This resignation points fingers towards one thing and that is the nomination of YS Sharmila as AP Congress boss which has been in the news for some time.
Reportedly, Sharmila will be announced as AP Congress president in the next two days which will subsequently lead to many interesting political events in AP. YCP Ex-MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy has already announced that his journey will be with Sharmila and Congress. A few other YCP rebel leaders are likely to go this way.
If Sharmila can attract dejected YCP MLA/MP candidates, it could mean a huge deal for Congress which was lifeless in position in 2014 and 19 AP elections. She could also split the YS vote bank to a certain extent, say political experts.
