YS Sharmila despises the sight of Jagan these days as she herself commented that she is hurt by seeing YSRC leaders personally attack her after all that she has done for the party. YCP leaders YV Subba Reddy and Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy have been disowning Sharmila and saying they don’t care about her stint in Congress.
However, the latest report from a Telugu media channel has mentioned that the current situation in AP has necessitated a meeting between Sharmila and YV Subba Reddy. This meeting could be regarding the coming Rajya Sabha elections.
Ideally, with YCP having 151 MLAs on its side, the party can single-handedly win all three RS seats. But in the aftermath of MLA/MP relocations and rejections, several MLAs have left the party or internally rebelling. It is estimated the YCP has lost the support of nearly 30-40 rebel MLAs due to the mentioned factors. In that case, YCP’s MLA count won’t be sufficient to win the three RS seats as in the current calculation, 44 MLAs are needed to win an RS nomination.
According to the report, YCP is focused on re-establishing a bridge with their rebel MLAs to get them to vote for the members nominated by the party. This is the only way YCP can win all three of its Rajya Sabha nominations and hence, every single MLA has become very crucial.
In one such attempt, YV Subba Reddy, who himself is a favorite to be YCP’s Rajya Sabha candidate, is reportedly designated with the job of getting ex-YCP MLA Ramakrishna Reddy to vote for YCP candidate. Ramakrishna Reddy resigned his MLA post when he left YCP but this wasn’t approved by the speaker, so technically he is still an MLA and is eligible to vote in RS elections.
But the problem here is that Alla Ramakrishna Reddy, who moved to Congress’s side along with Sharmila. is not responding to the YCP’s calls, say reports. The one way to get in touch with Ramakrishna Reddy is through Sharmila now. The media reports are saying that Subba Reddy could meet Sharmila soon and persuade her to get Alla to vote for the YCP candidate in the RS elections. It is reported that Subba Reddy is willing to meet Sharmila soon.
But after Subba Reddy openly dissed Sharmila and vice versa, will this meeting actually happen? Will Sharmila get the rebel MLA to vote for YCP after firing on the party publicly? Only time will tell.
